To try to be sympathetic to Phillida's exquisite and delicate artwork I
made the pop-ups in The Sleeping Beauty subtle and delicate except
for the last spread where the wedding scene explodes as a climax.
This book was never marketed at the very young. Its appeal is to a more
discerning and refined market who, it is hoped, would appreciate the delicacy
and preciousness of the book. The cover even had a red ribbon fastening
to accentuate the feeling of opening a box of precious jewels.
